Admitting International Graduate Students
The Center for International Education (CIE) must be informed as soon as an International student is admitted to a graduate program. In addition to meeting departmental admission requirements, international students must turn in to CIE other documents required for a non-immigrant visa.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep in mind that international students can only be admitted into programs that are full-time because international students must always be enrolled full-time in order to maintain their student status. Full-time is typically 9 credits per semester for graduate programs, but may vary depending on the program.
International Student Admission Requirements:
- Proof of financial support by providing an affidavit of support (available upon request from CIE) OR bank statement and a letter clearly stating that funds sufficient to cover Loyola's fees are available (NOTE: the student, his or her sponsor, and Loyola University New Orleans should also be mentioned)
- English language proficiency, such as LSAT, TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo score. (NOTE: students from English-speaking countries do not need such proof)
- Passport Name
- Physical Foreign Address (no P.O. Boxes)
